i'm using a Compaq 1700 Laptop with winXP Home, SP2. i used the CD yesterday to copy a file and thought nothing of it. Today, i noticed the CD (drive D) didn't appear. In My Computer, Windows reports that it can't load the driver because it may be corrupted. CD is a Matshita UJDA330. Websearches don't report any fixes and the Windows Update reports that the driver won't load. I did locate a non-standard, self-made, driver, but it ends in SYS and windows device manager refuses to use it. ANy help in locating a driver and how to install will be a big help. I even tried two utilities that are to manage driver problems: the trial of DriverMagicPro and DriverGuideToolkit, but neither could identify or repair the driver. Thanks for any tips!!!

:tazz: problem solved. nothing wrong with drivers.... i had removed roxio ezcdcreator 5.1 a few days ago, after having switched to Nero 6.6. well, roxio leaves a critical registry entry that causes the CD to stop working. documented at microsoft site as http://support.micro...com/kb/q270008/ once i removed two small entries, the CD began working properly... whew!!
