Hi, my friend bought me this Mp4 player for my b-day and although the device is a little, well, cheap...it's pretty good if you can learn your way around. Anyway I was wondering if there is any other, um, operating system for it. I've heard of Ipod Linux, but it looks like it is only for iPods. Is there a universal operating system for mp4 players?

Here's a link to the mp4 player I received:

You don't need one as you can't install Windows or Linux or anything onto an MP4 player. It has its own firmware which does everything.

All you do to populate your MP4 player with music is plug it into a USB port, it'll appear in My Computer as a Removable Disk, then copy your files to it. Job done.

Not likely people have gone to the trouble of making a new set of firmware for only a few of the most popular of devices.

I'd check with the people over at rockbox
http://www.rockbox.org/
and see if anything is available. You really need to hit specialist communities to get up to date info on that kind of thing.
