When I try to install certain programs I get a message saying the Windows Installer could not be accessed. I am not in Safe Mode so I guess, as the rest of the message says, the installer is incorrectly installed. Where do I find this "installer" and is there anything else I should/have to do?

Yes, the service could not be accessed. I am off to your link.........

OK. In the msconfig file under services Windows Installer is listed as stopped and there was a check in the box. I followed through with the instructions clicking on OK and rebooting. It's still listed as stopped - nothing has changed. It still does not work. How would I change the 'stopped' to 'running'? I am assuming that could be the problem. In the mean time I am going to try step 2 and re-register it.

Well ultimateslacker2 thank you for your help. It is now working as it should. The step 2 - registrering msiexec - did it. It now shows running in msconfig. Thanks again for you help.
