I have had problems with slow computer and several programs have installed themselves. I have removed the programs which I knew I hadn't installed. I downloaded a free trial of AVG and it eliminated about 70 "trojans" or adware files. I have had problems with flx.dll showing in processes under task manager. It will start with flx1.dll and continue numerically...it has gotten into the 200s. I ran HijackThis and here is the log. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Hello slowdeath :whistling:

Please read this post completely, it may make it easier for you, if you copy and paste this post to a new text document or print it for reference later.

IMPORTANT You are running HijackThis from zipped file and temporary folder, that may cause problems in future.
  • Go to My Computer. Double-click on C:/, then double-click on Program Files.
  • In the menu bar you’ll find “File”. Click it, then choose “New”, and then “Folder”.
  • Rename the folder to something you will remember (HJT or HijackThis, etc).
  • Then go to the HiJackThis file and Right-click it, a menu option will be shown, then select "Extract All".
  • You will now be presented with a "Folders Extraction Wizard" and then click the "Next" button.
  • At the next screen, enter the path from the folder that you created previously for the HiJackThis, after that click the "Next" button.
  • The files have now been extracted and you will be presented with a screen asking if you would like to open the folder you extracted the file to, put a checkmark in the "Show extracted files" box and then click the "Finish" button.
  • Use HiJackThis from this folder from now on, also if you want you can create a shortcut to your desktop by doing the following right-click HijackThis.exe and select "Send To" from the options and then choose "Desktop".
Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

**If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix.exe directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlog...processutil.htm

Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click "Save List" (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

Post back here with the SmitfraudFix report, new Hijackthis log and uninstall_list.txt.

Also, and my apologies for gatecrashing this thread, there's a file we'd like to have a closer look at::

C:\WINDOWS\System32\flx207.dll

It looks to be a new parasite, so we'd like to receive a sample for analysis!

Could I ask you to please go to this forum

There's no need to register. Just start a new topic, titled "File for TonyKlein".

In the topic, simply refer to this GtG forum thread, and use the Attachment box to upload the file.

In fact there's not even a need to actually browse to the file: just copy the full path to the file, in this case:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\flx207.dll

... and paste it in in the attachment box, then press the 'Post' button. The file will be found and uploaded.

NOTE: You will not see the files that have been uploaded (including the ones you upload yourself) as they only show to the authorised users who can download them

After that I'll be happy to leave you in Snowhite's capable hands! :whistling:

Thanks!

Snow White,

Sorry fo the delay...I am working off of my laptop to get files downloaded and to my pc and then the log files from my pc to my laptop to send to you using a jumpdrive. My computer (specifically IE) is freeing almost constantly and trying to access this website is impossible - I keep getting redirected to other sites and SpwareAntiVirus detection sites. Again I apologize for the delay, but I thank you for your help and patience.

Here is what you requested:
