I have tried to install about 3-4 programs but none will install. I think it has to do with creating a uninstalling item. On 2 of the programs it got to the end then failed.
Some of the things on screen after the failure are

uninstaller configuration failed

something about c:\winnt\downloaded installations\{94546b71.......} 5.0 .msi

I re-installed XP and during it it said it couldnt find A3d.dll
and something about Creative Installer

Does anyone know what is going on or how to fix it?

hi, welcome to geekstogo
could you give a bit more details:
- do you mean you did a repair with XPcd when you said re-installed or was it a fresh install which sounds odd because that should erase the lot
- have you tried uninstalling from safemode
- would system restore work here I wonder

yes i did a repair with xp cd.
i beleive the problem is that the programs cannot create an uninstallation program so it aborts the installation.
system restore did not work, becuase before this i had a lot of files deleted (30GB!) and through that i think i deleted something important.
I did mess with unistalling programs through the add/remove software thing and a few times it said other programs may use this file but i just deleted it anyway.
Also I deleted some stuff from the REGEDIT list when you click start and run REGEDIT.
so i dont know how i can figure out what it is\...

also during the XP fix it couldnt find ???.dll but i just canceled and it skiped it because i couldnt find it.

thanks for the details, sorry that I am stumped here but someone will probably answer soon. I myself would gather drivers and reinstall the system because I fear that even if I solved the direct problem here the tampering leaves me worried that it would just appear somewhere else.
