When I purchased my laptop I had 2 month's free of McAfee antivirus protection. When that ran out a friend gave me a Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition CD. How do I know if Symantec is currently working? I am not too familiar with Antivirus protection. If Symantec is not working is there a virus protetion (preferably free) that I can maybe download to protect my computer from viruses?

Thanks for your help and advice.
