Is there an easy way to hide my ip address and encrypt data at the same time?
I find that even I use anonymous proxy server, my neighbors can still figure out what website I have visited !!!
The problem is that the connection between my computer and the proxy server is not anonymous and not secure.
Is there an easy (and free) solution ?
Thanks.

Are you by chance using a router with an unsecured network? If your neighbors don't have physical access to your computer, then they shouldn't know your surfing habits. If they do, a stronger password is needed on your account. If you need help setting up a secure wireless router connection, there are some networking experts here that can help.

And no, any site you visit knows your IP. That's okay, or you wouldn't be able to interact with the site. It doesn't pose a security risk for someone to know your IP address, provided you are using appropriate firewall and security software.

If it worries you that much why not use a SSL vpn solution like this. For about $40 a year you get a secure socket layer connection to a vpn proxy and you can use it from any internet connect computer.

I connect to Internet through Ethernet.
One of my partner uses Windows XP build-in Internet sharing function to share the Internet to all of us.
So, all my connections must route to his computer before go to the Internet.
I don't know why he can tell what URL I have visited.
May be his computer has some program to record all outgoing traffic ?

I use this,
http://www.privacyconnector.com
It encrypts all your outgoing traffic and make you surf Internet anonymously using VPN
I think this can solve your problem, however, their connection speed is not fast...
And make sure your computer doesn't have any key logger and spyware.
