I just got a new laptop, HP 17" with Vista Home Premium, Nvidia GeForce Go 7600, 2 Gb Memory DDRAM.
Well I've been having one really big issue since I got it. For some odd reason, my graphics card keeps crashing on me, the screen will freeze and the sound repeats quickly, like stuttering sound of the current sound being played. Sometimes the sound will go back to normal, then the screen goes blank and the graphics card resets and it runs fine. Almost fine, I'll get little white stripes flickering across the screen and when I'm playing a game the land and unit textures will sometimes flicker white.

Any thoughts on what I can do to fix this? I did a bunch of updates for Vista and I checked the drivers for the Nvidia card but nothing worked. Anyone else having a similar issue?

Hi there

I've got the same problem. I've installed Vista 64 and, every 10 minutes it freezes. Then, after 10 or 20 seconds, it comes back go life. I got bored and downgraded to Vista 32, but it still freezes (just happened right now).

Microsoft Portugal says it doesn't know what it is.

Here are my specs:

HP Media Center PC
Intel Core 2 CPU 6400 @2.13
300 GB HD
NVIDIA GeForce 7200
Norton Internet Security 2007

Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bits

I'm willing to help solve this issue. I've little knowledge of WIN or PCs, but if you tell me what to do, I will.

Thanks

Hi there. As you say, the laptop is new, therefore the best advice I offer is to take the laptop back to the retailer for replacement.

Ya it was a hardware defect or something, I switch it out for a new laptop, same model and everything and now it runs fine. =)
