selling laptop, what should i do to securely delete files?

hi, i am selling my laptop and wanted to know the best way to securely delete sensitive files. plus anything else i should know before i sell it as far as what needs to be done.

Download the free version "active killdisk" from here:
http://www.killdisk.com/

Create a bootable floppy with it, boot from the floppy and run the killdisk utility.

Of course that will also destroy the operating system, but presumably you have some means of re-installing that from the CD or recovery discs supplied with it.
