Safe Mode not working

I'm going though the steps before posting a log when on step1, where im suppose to scan AVG in Safe Mode, after pushing Enter to go to Safe Mode i get a list of about 20 items that look something like this
r)disk/partition/system32/ (then a file name)
What's not allowing me to go to Safe Mode?
How can i go around it?
What should I do?
Can u Help?
