Recently my PC has slowed down markedly to the point where it will freeze for a few seconds wile processing simple tasks. Additionally, my once speedy internet is now frustratingly slow.

Are there any particular reasons this could be happening and is there any way of fixing things up to get some speed back, particularly in regards to the internet?

Cheers,

Hi cartzz!

Your problem can be caused by a number of things: hardware failure, overheating, hard drive too full and/or very fragmented and from malware on your machine...

Lets rule out the Malware first so we don't waste time doing other things when Malware could very well be causing all your problems...

Please go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Dee4Life: I suggest you check out the Malware Forum as well. If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the Malware Expert, then please start your own thread in the Windows XP, 2000, 2003, NT forum.
