Suddenly my HP DVD840 burner will not recognize any DVD disc. It has no problem with data or audio CD's. Running Windows XP Pro SP2.

Any advice?

Hi. Have you installed anything recently? I want you to try and run a System restoration to the day before this started.

1. Restart your computer, and keep tapping F8 during the initial start-up until you get options, select Safe Mode with a Command Prompt then press enter.

2. Log on to your computer with an administrator account or with an account that has administrator credentials.

4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer to an earlier state.

Hi. Have you installed anything recently? I want you to try and run a System restoration to the day before this started.

This may be a problem as I have not used the drive in over a week and I've installed several programs during this time.
