Try to enter BIOS and set it to default values. Save by pressing F10 and allow the computer to reboot. Any difference?

Hi, yes I tried that with the Bios and Load Default, several times, still no drives. I was wondering if Dell has the drivers there where I can install them again. I can't install anything here with no CDRW working. I have searched the net and tried everything so far. Thanks for your help.

Do you have under Dell Accessories the menu item Driver Reset Tool? Will be listed under Start/Programs. Try it and see if it works.

Hi Ron, I never thought of that untill you mentioned it. I tried the driver rest tool just now and no luck. Dell sent me a email and suggested I use the Dell Restore Ultilty. I am willing to do that but I don;t want to lose everything in my computer, been there before. I can't do a back up becasue of no drives, would a flash drive or a external hard drive help me to keep my important files on here before I go to factory settings? I don't currently have one but I will go out and buy one if that would help. I don't know much about them. Thank you for your help. You all have been wonderful and so patient with a newbie. :whistling:

If the restore utility does not improve it, consider the warranty route

Depending on the size of the drive, if you can transfer it to a drive you can transfer it back

Have you got another PC or a friend with room on their drive

If so, zapr is worth a look

Once you have an account, select a folder, access the link by copying it or sending it to the laptop, transfer the folder

If you have a home network then synctoy for XP is easier

http://www.microsoft...;displaylang=en

You create folder pairs, sync them, check the data is useable

I downloaded synctoy and created a folder from my documents. my question is, how do I get it to my lap top? I tried emailing it and it says can't email folder it is too big. Is that how i would do it buy emailing the folders to lap top? Sorry for questions that I am sure are dumb, but I ahve no clue about these things. :whistling:
