the power button itself might not be functioning
if you can locate the portion of the header where the power button plugs into the motherboard...you can short the two pins used by it with a screwdriver...or something else conductive...if doing this turns the pc on the same way the power switch used to...then the switch might be bad

Just tried that and it didn't seem to do anything. The green light is lit around the power button and that is it. I have all other items such as harddrive, etc. unplugged. When I push the power button in or hold it in, it will not shut down the cpu fan.

Does anyone have any more ideas by chance that you can think of that mit might be. Power button lights up green, but if I hold it in, to shut off the cpu fan and power supply, it does nothing.
Thoughts... Ideas??
