ARRRRGH!!!! :whistling:

I am down in Devon spending some time with my parents and have taken my trusty (two month old) lap top with me so I can do some writing and work and surf without usurping dads computer all the time.

Just to fill you in on the details....my lappy is a COMPAQ Presario with WINDOWS XP SP2 and has successfully connected to my wireless setup at home and at work with no bother.

Dad has a Livebox from Orange/Wanadoo and my lappy picks up the fact that there is a wireless available...BUT despite entering the WEP key that is printed on the underneath of the Livebox and indeed going to the configuration page of said live box to double check the key and have entered in the key one digit at a time, using both caps and no caps, it isn't working!

I would be most grateful if someone out there in this lovely world could help me before I do something unmentionable!

Cheers!

Yours in an-tici------pation,

Actorbloke/Chris

Your dad's wireless unit may be configured to use WPA-PSK security and not WEP, as WPA is more secure. WPA-PSK uses the same key as WEP but your wireless setup on the laptop needs to know which of the two is the correct one.
