Hi everyone. I'm here to ask for advice on my drwtsn32.exe situation...here's my dilemma:

Computer freezes, seems random during navigation in Windows Explorer, but more so with my external (Firewire) Maxtor drive, and when trying to open certain *.avi files (on any drive).

Here's what happens...
- I attempt access to folder/file
- hourglass...drwtsn32.exe shows up in task mgr
- drwtsn32 faults out, says it needs to close, and dwwin.exe shows in task mgr
- I acknowledge drwtsn32 fault: dwwin.exe ends, original drwtsn32 remains listed, and shows up 2nd time in task mgr
- comp appears frozen w/ 2 drwtsn32 processes, which take 0 cpu cycles
- 2nd drwtsn32 task never faults out and comp just hangs with hourglass, 0 CPU load
- I manually end drwtsn32 tasks...explorer.exe ends and restarts on it's own with no error msg

I've followed your required steps and been through the other drwtsn32 posts on geekstogo and annoyances.org. I use Firefox but have brought up iexplore to see if it would crash but it seems ok. I am deployed for the Air Force and don't have my WinXP disc. I may be able to find one here though.

No tasks prevented from startup, able to see hidden files
Ad-Aware SE Scan
CWS.Shredder Scan
Spybot S&D Scan
Virus Scan (AVG)
Windows Update current
About:Buster Scan
CleanUp! Scan x2
Removed and replaced video codecs
Drivers up to date

Any help is greatly appreciated. Sorry for lengthy post; trying to be detailed.

Thanks,
Beaker

Resolved...Please close topic

Re-installed video and audio codecs after using their uninstallers but additionally fishing all remnants out of my system32 directory. Everything seems fine now.

Thanks,
Beaker
