win xp hangs on shutdown or restart

I've seen this issue before but didn't pay any attention to it because I didn't have the problem. Now - post reformat - I have the hangup problem both shutdown and restart. Have to cold boot (push the on/off button) to go further.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many with this problem have reported good results with the User Profile Hive clean-up utility. Validation is required: http://www.microsoft...;displaylang=en
