iTrip

I just got an iTrip for my iPod, and installed the CD onto my Apple laptop then onto my iPod. This gave me a list of FM frequencies. I then tuned my car radio to 87.9, the recommended start-up, and played the 5-sec track "Griffin 87.9" on my iPod, but the iTrip did not light up as it was supposed to. I also tried other frequencies that were not used by any radio stations, but the iTrip never lit up, and so i was unable to ever broadcast from my iPod. Any suggestions?
