software raid 5 system. should i?

high i am making a an 8 drive software raid 5 dedicted storage pc
the pc has been running 6 drives for about 6 months now
it has been turned on for 3 months without a crash or power cut
planing to impliment software raid 5 soon
BUT
i dont really wanna add a ninth drive to run the os
power and space issues
any ideas please

also planning on using server 2k3 to run sys
2 sata onboard
2 controller cards one running 4 sata ports one running 2
8 samsung spinpoint 250gb hdd
15 fans

anybody have any problems that may arise.

why would you need to install a 9nth drive to install the OS? all my servers are RAID5 with multiple HD's in the raid array (as would be obvious) but the "drive" that get's created after the raid is partitioned into two sections....one for the OS and one for the data...but the entire "drive" is still in the raid (which also means that if a drive borks...you don't lose the os)
