Messenger on vista

I just installed messenger 8.1 on my computer (Vista op sys). It starts but then shuts down with the message " data execution prevention has closed messenger" when i try to turn it off for messenger the system advises it is a programme that can't be excluded from DEP.... ANY IDEAS Big Loz
