Linda

I did set up a new profile like you instructed. Both the old and new profiles show the continued passwd pop-up.

1. There is no difference in my Outlook setup vs the other computers/users (I set them all up)
2. Same OS Win XP Home
3. Same installation of Outlook
4. The only difference in programs installed is that I have ActiveSync. This issue did start before ActiveSync was installed. I tried disabling ActiveSync but the OS starts it up any way.

Any other thoughts?

What version of ActiveSync do you have? Try downloading the 4.5 beta or uninstall/reinstall what you've got.

To prevent ActiveSync from starting with Windows, you'll have to edit MSCONFIG, Startup tab.

Linda:

I think I have alleviated the passwd pop-up problem but not eliminated it. This is what I did over the weekend:

1. Backed up PST files to desktop
2. Deleted account in Outlook
3. Shut down Outlook and went to server, deleted the email address
4. Set up email address again on server
5. Set up email account anew in Outlook
6. Set it up to leave copy of emails on server but delete every 10 days (used to be 90 days before)

Now my server side Outlook account has a handful of emails instead of like 1000+ before.

I am now able to retrieve my email in a timely fashion both via Outlook and my Treo 700W. Occassionally, I still get the passwd prompt but not as frequently like before.

I have no idea what the logic was behind these steps but it seems to have alleviated the problem. Thanks for your help.

I have had the same issue for 3 weeks or more having the password prompt pop up repeatedly. Today I updated from Internet Explorer 7 to IE8 and it seems to have stopped.
