Wireless connection

Hi. Just wondering if there is anyone who might be able to solve a problem that I am having with wireless conection. One laptop is not wireless enabled but using wireless with an adaptor and the other laptop is wireless enabled but can only access the internet if the adaptor is connected to the laptop. Once you disconnet the adaptor the laptop will not take the security card number.
