Ok, so here's the summary. Computer shuts down and restarts all by itself. Computer has IE errors. Computer has game crashes. Everything I run eventually crashes. I suspected many things over the last month and have reformatted TWICE. There's NO spyware, no adware, Ive installed zone alarm, updated my drivers, updated windows, tried it with SP2 and now Im using the comp WITHOUT SP2. Suspected my computer was overheating so I downloaded thermal analyzer. HD temp was 55c. Pulled off the cover, bought a box fan. Now its running at 35c. I suspected my Radeon card, removed the drivers and reinstalled them. I tweeked my processes. NOTHING HAS HELPED.

I suspect my bios. There's a section in the bios screen that say..
CHAFAN1 - 0 rpm
CPUFAN1 - 4,592 rpm.

Is my bios set to auto shutoff my comp if that CHAFAN1 fan isn't running? And if so, how do I MAKE IT STOP !

This was a custom build and there probably isn't even a CHAFAN hooked up! I don't even know what the CHAFAN is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh please help me before I truly go over the edge.

(PS) I posted this in XP OS section, sorry for the duplicate but I dont know which group can help me.

Hey ru6ydragon,

I dont think so. CHAFAN1 is for you chase fan and it would not cause your PC to shut down if it was not detected.

Have you looked at your power supply? Maybe you have to many PCI cards or it is not working properly. I would have it checked out.

Also I downloaded Everest. Can Everest help me figure out what is going on? Is there a program out there that can tell me the temperature of each individual piece of the machine? All I have is HD monitor.

Sorry it was late last night and I had to get some rest, Everast will tell you temps by clicking on sensor this is of course dependent on what sensors your hardeware has.

List what temps you can especially the cpu temp
Everast will also tell you what hardware you have I am interested in the cpu, ram and mobo. Also what power supply but everast won't tell you this only the decal on the side of the psu will.

You do need to test the ram either get a working floppy or memtest does make a version you can burn to cd so check the authors website, also microsoft makes some kind of memory test but I don't know much about how you run it.
