So my major problem is Vongo. When I first bought my HP laptop it came with a lot of extras that I didn't need so vongo was just taking up space.

First I went into "add/remove programs" and deleted it, then went into C:/Program files deleted that but it kept trying to reinstall itself. After some internet research and hp support I went into "start/run/"msconfig"/startup" and uncheck 'isuspm' and 'vongo tray'.
Then boot in safe mode to remove again but it wouldn't let me. On regular boot it comes up with a dialog box "FATAL ERROR DURING INSALLATION" when i click "uninstall" it just tries to install.
HP also recommended a download "Windows Installation Cleanup Utility from Microsoft" for this exact problem. Its supposed to remove windows installer configuration information files and registry settings. That way it won't continue to install itself.

None of this worked. None of the spyware programs or cleanup programs remove it. I can't take seeing much more of those dialog boxes everytime I start the computer, I get flashbacks to when I had a bad spyware infection on an old computer.
I can't find any extra help to remove it the above usually fixes it for most people from what I can tell. So any help would be great because I'm all out ideas. Here is my hijack this log. I also downloaded and ran all of the programs, AVG Anti-Spyware and SUPERAntiSpyware Home Edition didn't turn anything up except for some cookies that got through the cleanup process. Thanks again for any help.

Hello kenny777 and welcome to the G2G HijackThis forum. I don't see any signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean.

Although Vongo might be acting like malware it is a legitimate program that HP places on most (if not all) of its new PC's. There appear to be numerous complaints by purchasers regarding Vongo and its removal. Vongo's files and registry entires will not appear in a HijackThis log so I don't have any additional information to give you as to its removal. I did a quick search and here are a couple of links with suggestions on how to remove it. These suggestions appear to work for some users but not necessarily all users:

http://forums.cnet.c...m...778&start=0

http://blogs.chron.c...will_not_u.html

Try the suggestions there and see if any of them work for you.

Cheers.

Thanks for the help. But I tried those before and no luck.
But my fiancée did manage to find a fix by installing a program called TuneUp Utilities. She was able to see what program was trying to install it continually and disable it.
Thanks again for your help.

And there you go

Since this issue is resolved I will close this topic. If you have any malware related questions or issues in the future please start a new topic.

Cheers and Happy Computing :whistling:
