alright finally got off of vista, been using a friends vid card pci (geforce 5500 256mb) and i now need a vid card, friend needs his. since my board has no onboard, i convinced him to wait a little longer. my board has a 8x agp, no pci-e. i would like a little faster than the 5500, although from what i hear the fact it will be on agp instead of pci it is still faster. so i need some advice. thanks in advance :whistling:. also the newest game ill be playing is "battlefield 2143"

Yes, you can buy a lesser graphics card. There are 256MB nvidia FX5500 and ATi 9550 cards for around $50. A step up here would be the ATI X1300 series or a Nvidia 6200 at around $60-$90.

My point is the best you can afford will give you the best graphics. Running games is graphics intensive so i always figure on spending more on the graphics cards in a gaming computers. Here the best is always the better deal. There is a WOW factor when you see the difference.

3.0 Shaders didnt come out till the 6 series that card will have 2.0 or 1.0 shaders. The price seems a bit high to me and 5500 will actually struggle with battlefield 2 i had a friend with one and it wasnt a very good game experience with it but it was playable.
