A page of kernel data was not found in the pagefile and could not be read into memory. This might be due to incompatible disk or controller drivers, firmware, or hardware.

One of the many processes or threads crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated. As a result, the system can no longer function. Specific causes are many, and often best resolved by a careful history of the problem and the circumstances of the error message. One user, who experienced this on return from Standby mode on Win XP SP2, found the cause was that Windows was installed on a slave drive.

Connecting a hard disk drive in slave only mode leads to system halt during resume from standby

The kernel mode I/O subsystem attempted to mount the boot volume and it failed. This error also might occur during an upgrade to Win XP on systems that use higher throughput ATA disks or controllers with incorrect cabling. In some cases, your system might appear to work normally after you restart.

Stop 0x000000ED Error Message When Volume on IDE Drive with Caching Enabled Is Mounted

While these don't seem to apply, except the first one, it would seem the updates you have done have borked your system. If you cannot save any data to CD's or dvd's when the system does boot up, your only real choice is to try and save any data is to do a repair install on the system. This will usually repair the windows files and leave the data files alone so you can still access them. If you still have the same problems after a repair install it may be your hard drive may be going bad and developing bad sectors.

If windows fails to install after doing a complete wipe of the drive with the drive makers utilities, i would say the drive has gone bad. I alway attempt a utility drive fdisk and format before buying a new drive.

im a little confused by what u mean utility drive? can you explain?

ok if its the computer restore tool, ill try a complete format using the recovery dvd (this will erase the current recovery partition on the hdd) if that fails i guess im up for a new hdd then?

it stops in the toshiba restore tool 7.5.1 with an application error 29004
Read sector failure, result = 1, drive = 128, sectors = 16238399 to 16238463
if problem persists contact blah blah blah

Time to buy another hard drive. Unfortunately this may cause the restore Cd to not work if it does not recoginize the HD.

hi again,

still have drama's...

I managed to do a full reinstall from the master recovery disk. I reformatted the hdd and overwrote the recovery partition. Everything seemed good until i start the windows updates. I downloaded and installed the first batch of updates for sp1 that gets u ready for sp2, but when i go to update to sp2 it seems to hang on the final stage when it is "cleaning disk" or spmething. It has been stuck there for a couple hours, any ideas what to do?
