get the 5500 fx .PCI has a faster speed than agp and therefore bettere graphics

An AGPx8 slot is definatly faster than a standard PCI slot. I think athlon was confused and thought that it was a pci-e. If your board has the agp slot I would try to find something for that but I can't suggest one because I have never used ATI cards.
