firmware update

I downloaded updates to my firmware for my CD-DVD ROM...I thought the updates were installed...but now I'm not so sure. Is there a way to check to see if the firmware is updated?

I have a Dell Dimension 8300 the CD Drive is a Samsung.

Hope that's all you need to know.
