Hi all, I am new here.

I have recently formatted my computer and installed a copy of Windows XP MCE upgraded form XP pro.

Since I have formatted my computer has hung on several occasions, this is a random occurance and I can't find a solution (hence my this post).

Also I had added some RAM to my PC prior to the format and I am wondering weather I may have damgaged something interanally.

Finally, when my PC does hang my whole system locks up including my monitor and keyboard, and I am running it on SP2

Thanks

Try and put your memory configuration back to the way it was before the format. this will tell you if it is a memory issue.

You will also want to try and run the system without any peripherals. Boot up with only your Proc, Ram, HD, mouse, keyboard, video (if not onboard) connected to MB. No USB, Optical drives or addon cards. This will rule out a peripheral.

I have recently been having problems with my PC and posted a help message above. I had recently formatted and the PC starting hanging, I thought maybe it could have been 1GB of RAM I added before the format. I removed the RAM and then tried to work on my PC but it kept hanging, I witled it down to my usb dongle and went and bought a new one but the same problem occured. I also swithced motherboards but using the same hardrive and it carried on freezing, I have now burnt out 3 hardrives and I am at my wits end, I just can't work it out. When it freezes the hardrive makes a click and then it all breaks down, I had a hardrive lying around with XP on it and added it to my computer and all was good, until I formatted and added MCE and it also went pop.

Any advice would be really helpful,

Thanks
