hi!

i tried to reinstall my orange wireless adaptor. i left it to install but when i came back to my pc it was frozen.

whenever i try to start the computer windows won't load up.

the only screen that loads says:

it stays at this screen indefinately. can anybody help me?

Try unplugging the device on bootup.

thanks for you advice, however i have already disconnected the wireless adaptor and removed the installation cd.

Start the System Restore Utility at a command prompt

1. Restart your computer, and keep tapping F8 during the initial start-up until you get options, select Safe Mode with a Command Prompt then press enter.

2. Log on to your computer with an administrator account or with an account that has administrator credentials.

3. Type the following command at a command prompt, and then press ENTER:

4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer to an earlier state.

Look for the most recent system checkpoint created before the errors to restore from

it won't let me use safe mode. it complete stalls at this screen.

it's quite a new pc. it was working fine until i tried to reinstall the adaptor.

Looks like the BIOS is feeling lazy and does not want to load up fully.

Go into the BIOS, usually one of the keys , F1, DEL, F2, F5

When you get there, select the LOAD BIOS DEFAULTS.

Exit and save by pressing Y and reboot.

Can you load into windows now?

the only thing that seems to work is pressing control alt delete - but then it just restarts the computer and brings me back to where i was.

Well this may do something.

Open up your PC Side Part Case.
Look on the MOTHERBOARD
You should see a CIRCLE LITHIUM BATTERY on there.
Take it out for about 1 hour.
When the 1 hour has passed, but the BATTERY back on the MOTHERBOARD.

Try booting now.

i restarted and hit delete to get into set up.

i'm not at a screen called Pheonix - AwardBIOS CMOS Setup Utility which has many different options to choose from.

there's one called Load Fail-Safe Defaults - should i choose it?
