I have this fairly ok gaming machine that runs linux most of the time but sometimes runs xp to play games.

But yesterday, it froze during Empire at War and now when I try to boot up, I get nada. Nothing. It just hangs of the BIOS screen. I suspect it's totally dead.

But when I try to download a BIOS update for a M7VIG 400 motherboard, I can only find a exe file.

I haven't done a BIOS update before.... how do I go about fixing this?

Welcome to G2G bobber205

Firstly, I wouldn't worry about updating the bios at the moment as it's very unlikely that the problem is a corrupted bios.

When you say it hangs on the bios screen, do you mean you still get a display on the monitor?

I posted too hastily. Turns out the mosue died. My brother was one the it died on and his info was sparse until AFTER the fact. Once I removed the mouse it booted up.
That's what you get for buying a 6 dollar Walmart mouse. :whistling:
