Can't install windows 98 on gateway laptop

I formatted the hard drive on a gateway solo2300 laptop with a swapable floppy & cd-rom and when I run the setup floppy,and try to switch to the cd-rom, it tells me that drive a is no longer valid Does anyone a fix for this problem? HELP!!!!!!!!!

you need to boot from a 98 startup disk if you can't you need to change you boot up options in your cmos to boot from a: drive
