I HAVE A HP CPU W/ WIN98. IT WAS RUNNING FINE UNTIL I HAD SOMEONE ERASE THE FILES ON IT. NOW WHEN I TURN IT ON THE ONLY MESSAGE THAT APPEARS IS INVALID DISK! ANY SUGGESTIONS???????

What means did he use to erase the files? Did he format the disk or write the drive to zeros? It would seem from your description that he removed the operating system and it may need to be reinstalled.

It either looks like he deleted some important system files or he formatted the whole disk.

Do you have a HP recovery cd or a windows 98 cd?
