I have just got a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card for my laptop. I have installed the drivers that came with the card, and a very strange thing is happening.

I plug the card into its slot and all is fine. I then attach the power cable for the card via the USB port at the back of my laptop and plug in a USB device to the PCMCIA adaptor. Then the monitor goes blank. It's as if the PCMCIA is stealing all the power from the monitor and causing it to turn off.

I've tried connecting another monitor to the laptop when this happens but to no avail.

Any suggestions as to what's going on would be appreciated.
