Hey, I'm completely stuck with this problem, i have run all these in safe mode;

1) Ad-Aware - SE
2) Spybot S&D
3) Avast Antivirus
4) Xoftspy

But everytime i run them the same problems come up, especially for Xoft Spy where after i have checked in safe mode vundo trojan is found, i remove it and when i re-boot my computer, and re-check, the vundo trojan has come back. I then ran the symtec program Fixvundo.exe but that found nothing.

It is likely that you have a variant of the Vundo trojan that hides itself from HijackThis.exe so if we rename HijackThis, the entries should become visible.

Go to the C:\Program Files\HijackThis folder. Right click on the HijackThis.exe file and select "Rename". Rename it geek.exe.

Then run HijackThis again and post a new log please.

Please read this post completely, it may make it easier for you if you copy and paste this post to a new text document or print it for reference later

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
• Click the Scan for Vundo button.
• Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
• You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
• Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
• When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
• Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

Please let Vundo finish its thing, sometimes it can take multiple passes

In your next reply, please include these log(s):

I see you have two antivirus (Avast and AVG) Having multiple antivirus softwares installed. This is bad, because they can crash a system and cause serious problems.

Please remove one of them.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.

Please one of these entries from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel (if present):

Avast- Virus or AVG Anti-Virus. BUT NOT BOTH OF THEM!

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.(if present):

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

You will need to enable hidden files and folders by doing the following:
Windows XP

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.

Please remove these entries from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel (if present):
PartyGaming
PartyPoker

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete these folders (if present):
C:\Program Files\PartyGaming

Reboot back to normal Windows.

Thanks again for your work so far. Errrm the reason i have two AntiVirus programs is because i thought i had uninstalled AVG, indeed it is not in my uninstall programs list or in the list when i try and uninstall it with CCleaner. However there are certain files left in the AVG folder in Program files. How should i remove it :S

  Please find the update button or tab in the Java Control Panel. Update your Java then reboot.
• If you are unable to update you can manually update by going here:
  • http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
• After the reboot, go back into the Control Panel and double-click the Java Icon.
• Under Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button.
• There are three options in the window to clear the cache - Leave ALL 3 CheckedDownloaded Applets
  Downloaded Applications
  Other Files
• Click OK on Delete Temporary Files Window
  Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.
• Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.

I would like you to generate a "Add/Remove Software list" log using the HijackThis application. Here is how you can do this:


* Open Hijackthis, In the lower right corner click the "Config..." (Configuration) button.
* Once in the "Configuration" panel, click "Misc Tools" button.
* Then click the "Open Uninstall Manager..." button.
* The "Add/Remove Programs Manager" panel should appear.
* In this panel click the "Save list" button.
* Save the "uninstall_list.txt" file to its default location.
* Then copy and paste the notepad text that appears in the generated "unistall_list.txt" file in a reply to this post.

In your next reply, please include these log(s):

* HijackThis Uninstall List
* HijackThis log (new)
