I'm running XP Pro on an athalon 64. I've installed Office 2003. Office apps work quite well when I load them from a fresh boot; however, if IE Explorer is open and online, when I try to open a document (Word) or spreadsheet (Excel) I get a "not responding" error.

Any suggestions?

Regards,
Bonnie

Thank you, Keith!

While I'm not running Norton's I am running Zone Alarm... And as soon as I 'allowed' the programs - voila!

Cheers!

Thank you for letting me know how you fixed it, it had to be something to do with firewall or AV as it only kicked in when you went online
