Hi Maxie,

Welcome to Geeks 2 Go. Sorry about the delay in getting to your post, however we have been very busy working through all the logs posted.

If you still need assistance i will be happy to help you.

As it has been sometime since you posted your log, could you please rescan your PC with HJT and post a new log in this thread.

If your problems have now been resolved i would be grateful if you could let me know.

Regards,

Hi Maxie,

I should have noticed earlier, you are running an old out of date version of HJT.

Please download the latest version from the link below, install it in your HJT folder and scan your PC with the new version and post that log in this thread.

New version HJT 1.99.1

Thanks,

Hi Maxie,

Download the following two programs, install them, update both and then run them and allow them to fix anything they may find.

Spybot Search and Destroy 1.3

Ad-aware S E 1.5

Next rescan your PC with HJT and put a check next to the following entries if found as rthe previous processes may have removed them.

O1 - Hosts: 64.91.255.87 www.dcsresearch.com
O15 - ProtocolDefaults: 'http' protocol is in My Computer Zone, should be Internet Zone
O16 - DPF: {3E339D3C-4B12-4E8C-A529-9CC4BEEAFD4F} (VacPro.russia_ver3) - http://www.advnt01.c...aler/russia.CAB

Ensure that no other windows other than HJT are open and click on FIX CHECKED

Clean up your system (temp files etc) using the tool on the following link.

Cleanup

Rescan your PC with HJT and post the log in this thread

Hi Maxi,

Congratulations, Your log is now clean. :tazz:

With regards Cleanup try the link below to see if it works this time

Cleanup

If not it doesn't matter, just do it manually via

Start/All programmes/Accesories/system tools/disk cleanup. Select C drive and OK.
Ensure ticks next to Temporary Internet, Recycle Bin, Temporary files. OK it and then click yes on popup box.

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

Detect and Remove Programs:
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.
Prevention Programs:
  • Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
  • Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
Other necessary Programs:
  • AntiVirus Program<= An AntiVirus program is a must! Whether it is a free version like AVG or Anti-Vir, or a shareware version like Norton or Kapersky, this is a must have.
  • Firewall<= A firewall is definatley a must have. Two good free versions are Sygate and ZoneLabs.
  • More Secure Browser<= Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser. There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend Firefox, however Opera and SlimBrowsers are good as well.
And also see TonyKlein's good advice
So how did I get infected in the first place? and AntiSpyware Net's spyware article: Spyware, Adware, Malware: What it is, how it got on my computer, how to get rid of it, and how to prevent it.
