Hello all-

Below are logs from AVG Anti-Spyware (which I probably should have run in Safe Mode; the report is from a normal startup) and HT.
This computer can only browse the Web from Internet Explorer. Whenever I try Firefox or the internal updates in AVG AV or Anti-Spyware they fail immediately, telling me that they cannot get on the Internet as if a firewall were blocking them access.
There was an "anti-spam weather utility" installed as well as a MyWebSearch tool bar, but I think I've gotten rid of those. I've run several Spybot S&D scans and cleaned up the results.
There were also two suspicious processes running: ishost.exe and ismini.exe. I rebooted into Safe Mode and removed the registry entries to launch ishost.exe at startup, rebooted, and removed both executables.
Edit: I also downloaded and ran CWShredder, but it found nothing.
I've done manual updates (as of today) for AVG AV & Anti-Spyware and for Spybot S&D, since they cannot get on the Internet to update themselves.
AVG Anti-Virus cleaned up several instances of Downloader.Agent.GVC and Downloader.Zlob.FNK.

Thanks in advance!

JD

Nevermind... I managed to clean it up. A bad (old & expired) install of Norton Internet Security was the culprit when it came to not letting me on the Internet. Using Symantec's removal tool cleaned up that mess.

Thx for your support in the past. This is a great site.
