Hi,
My friend is using windows 98 and every time she turns her computer on it hangs/frezzes at the desktop. Her icons/taskbar are not there but you can see her blue sky background. And When u hit ctrl, alt, del there is nothing in the box.
Now when you start it in safe mode the icons/taskbar are there. Can someone please help me fix this problem?

Has something edited the registry lately?

I might have a solution to that.

Is there anyway you can boot into DOS?

Well, if you can, type scanreg \restore

You should be able to perform the following in safe mode....

I think you have a corrupted IE file, which is also used by your desktop (even though you were not performing an Interenet Explorer update, this may solve your problem).
