I have a HiGrade laptop 1.6 GHZ with 504mb of ram. I have it connected to a phillips 170S monitor. The laptop monitor is widescreen (1280 x 800), but the external monitor is 4:3. I would like to have the external moitor at a resolution of 1280 x 1024. Sometimes I have that option via Control Panel>display settings, but ineviatblty after I have turned it on and off or disconected and reconnected it a few times, the max resolution I am offered for a 4:3 monitor is 1024 x 768.

Can anyone suggest how I can keep the internal monitor at 1280x 800 and the external monitor at a resolution of 1280 x 1024?

Thanks.
