Formating in dos issues

I have this huge problem. My computer can't start up in normal or safe mode. I tried to format the harddrive in dos mode but it keeps telling me that "missing parameter" it gets so annoying. anyone know how to get through this? plz help.

What OS are you running? If it is NT/2000/XP and you tried to format the drive with a DOS or Win98/WinME/DOS disk you probably jacked it all up... DOS/Win98/WinME are FAT16/32 systems and NOT NTFS systems like NT/2000/XP are...

If you are trying to reformat with the XP disk it should be straight forward, unless you have some rogue data on the drive.

Are you trying to restore or repair your current OS or load a completely new OS?
