:whistling: This is what I want to do is transfer all stuff from original ide drive to new sata and then use in a new computer that I'm going to build with all new parts.The problem is that the sats doesn't show up in "my computer".Bios is flashed to version 1.2 and in device manager I have a eclamation mark beside VIA SATA RAID Controller.I click on update driver and it's stll there.The os is xp pro with all updates installed.I'm at a loss any help will bee greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the motherboard manufacturer for the most recent SATA/Raid controllers/drivers?

Did you install (F6) the SATA/RAID drivers during the XP install?

it wasn't even showing up in device manager until i set jumper on drive to run at sata 1 now its ok.
