svchost.exe takes 100% cpu and can not run McAfee virusscan. It happened after I installed SP2 on XP Media.

What should I do to remedy the situation? Thanks in advance for any help offered.

I failed to read before doing my posting but this weekend i will go thru the whole malware removal procedures posted on the site... I had already ran adware and spybot. I have mcafee firewall and antivirus installed but somehow they did not work. Anyway, my files are here and I will be spending some quality time with my son's laptop this weekend. Thanks for the help.
