svchost.exe takes 100% cpu and can not run McAfee virusscan. It happened after I installed SP2 on XP Media.

What should I do to remedy the situation? Thanks in advance for any help offered.

Hi,

Remember, before sending ANY report to the Geeks To Go Staff, please include your HijackThis Log. HijackThis is a special program, which scans your computer. After that, a log is created. Copy ALL the log into the reply, WITHOUT CHANGING ANYTHING there!!!! It is very important. In your next reply also include if you are using any kind of Anti-Virus or Anti Spyware program (Ad-Aware, Norton Anti-Virus, exept your McAfee Anti Virus).
Download HijackThis:http://www.geekstogo.com/modules.php?modid=5&action=download&id=3

Good Luck and Reply fast. A Trusted Helper will help you later.

Attached File  startuplist.log.txt   35.88KB   77 downloadsI have attached both the hijckthis.log and the startuplist.log...

I failed to read before doing my posting but this weekend i will go thru the whole malware removal procedures posted on the site... I had already ran adware and spybot. I have mcafee firewall and antivirus installed but somehow they did not work. Anyway, my files are here and I will be spending some quality time with my son's laptop this weekend. Thanks for the help.

Sorry - Would not let me attach this file so here it is...
