trying to reinstall windows xp on my computer when using the disc that came with the computer it tells me that the fdc.inf cannot be found. Don't understand what that means or how do I install or reinstall thata file. Can some one please help me I have NO clue here.

That is for the floppy drive. Does your computer have one installed? If so check the ribbon cable to it. Make sure it isn't loose or bad. Also has the floppy drive been working? The only ohter thiing hardware wise that may be wrong is the floppy drive controller on the motherboard has gone bad. If you do not have a floppy drive ignore it.
