I just built a new system, my first one, and everything works great except there's no sound. I've installed all the drivers from the CD's and the Website's, but I still get nothing, could it be something with the hardware itself, or something not being enabled correctly?" Any help is greatly appreciated.

New systems specs

200Gig HD
2gig ram
Nvidia 7800GTX 256mb video card
AMD Athlon 64 FX-57 Processor
MSI Neo4 Platinum Mobo with integrated Audigy2 sound card.

This is going to sound really silly, but have you got teh Jack for speakers plugged into the correct port?

Are you using on-board sound or a seperate soundcard?

thanks

That's what I was thinking, but I've tried every jack that the plug will fit into and I get nothing.

Yes the Sound Card is integrated into the motherboard and as best I can tell from the manual, I've got the plug in the right spot.

well thats a start, next we will check the device manager for any installation errors,

goto start>control panel>system>hardware>device manager

check on the list for any errors (yellow explaination marks)

i have read alot of reviews about this board that say the sound quality is not great, but it should still work!

could you also tell me whay version motherboard you have? MS-7125 or MS-7125(v3.0)

Okay I've gone through the whole list and don't see any Yellow Exclamation's on anything, Anything else I should check? I'm not exactly sure where to find that..looking through the manual now. I see on the title page it says "MS-7100 (v1.X)

Yes in my Bios it says that the "Onboard CREATIVE audio" is enabled, but that's the only thing I see with audio in it..

Well it seems there is no configuration issue, now we will look into drivers!

The name of the MoBo should be printed on the motherboard if you can see it??

the model number you gave me shows me the name of the motherboard is "K8N SLI Platinum" does that ring any bells? what socket (processor socket) is on the board?

Okay I downloaded the latest drivers, but I see a difference in something and I'd like to ask about it to see if it has any kind of merit here. I look at my Creative sound program now and it says "Sound blastor 24 bit" But the update I'm getting is for 32-64bit. Does that mean anything or am I way off track here?

i honestly don't know, the driver site i sent you is for the motherboard you specified. personnally, i would try it,

BUT FIRST

create a restore point, by

Create a Restore Point

1.
Open System Restore. (See step-by-step instructions above.)

2.
Click Create a restore point, and then click Next.

3.
In the Restore point description box, type a name to identify this restore point. System Restore automatically adds the date and time that this Restore Point is created.

then install the new driver, too confirm, what OS are you using?
