for some reason i cant view any or stream any videos that must be played using media player...

Whenever i try to view one, it tries to opens up and then it gives a notification saying, additional plugins are required to display all the media on the page. I then click install missing plugins, it searches for a while then it says no suitable plugins were found and shows, Unknown plugin (application/x-mplayer2). I then click manual install and it brings me to a microsoft site where i have to download windows media player 11. It downloads then tries to install, and then says that i already have the latest version installed and i cant install previous versions.. Anyone know why or what i can do to rectify this.

I am running windows vista home premium and i am using firefox... the latest version. Thank you

Firefox has long standing issues with Media Player and Firefox has issues on Vista. A Windows Media Player (WMP) plugin is not provided with Windows Vista. As a workaround, in order to view Windows Media content, you can follow these instructions. Note that after installing you may have to get a security update and apply it before you can see the content in the browser.

This could be your problem??? not real sure my mediaplayer 11 is playing everything ok but i did have this issue with flash content.

Vista: Getting Adobe Flash Player To Work

Here’s the scenario: you download the latest and greatest version of the Adobe Flash Player. After it finishes installing, you go to a site featuring Flash content and are greeted with a message notifying you that you need to install Flash Player, but didn’t you just do that? To properly update your Flash Player, you need to run the installation as Administrator. Follow these steps to properly install Adobe Flash Player:

For Vista (32 bit):

1. Open Computer.
2. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\.
3. Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.
4. Open the Flash directory.
5. Right-click FlashUtil9b.
6. Select Run as Administrator.
7. When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.
8. Follow the Flash Player installation wizard.

For Vista (64 bit):

1. Open Computer.
2. Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\.
3. Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.
4. Open the Flash directory.
5. Right-click FlashUtil9b.
6. Select Run as Administrator.
7. When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.
8. Follow the Flash Player installation wizard.

Once the wizard completes, Flash Player has been properly installed and will now function properly
