I can't boot up my computer at all. Not even in any of the safe modes. I get a black screen and it says the "system32\drivers\pci.sys is missing or corrupted.

I have an HP laptop, about 4 years old running XP. I have not added any hardware or software recently. This problem occurred while running Spybot.

I did a little research and it was recommend to insert my XP disk and run repair. However, even though I bought this computer new from Best Buy, I did not get ANY kind of XP disk with it!

Can I just boot with a DOS disk and copy a new pci.sys file to the c: drive?

In answer to your question about using a DOS boot disk to replace the file, that won't work. In most cases Windows XP resides on an NTFS partition which DOS cannot write to. As far as DOS is concerned, NTFS partitions don't exist.
