I recently used a free online spyware detector and when I finished, my Windows(98) dissappeared. I can't open in safe mode and even when I configure my bios boot-load to start with a cd-rom, my computer just stops loading/freezes when the Windows logo appears. I have tried my start up floppy, my original reinstall disk(which tells me to agree to losing all of the info on my drive, then tells me to remove the cd and then restart and reinsert the cd, and when I do the computer stops loading/freezes after the memory test), and nothing works. Can anyone help me?
Used spyware detector, now Windows doesn't work

Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the spyware, only that it was the only free version I found that scanned and removed spyware (I learned my lesson with freeware!)
My computer is kind of old. It's a pentium 3 with a 450 processor. I have plenty of memory. I have 2 hard drives and don't mind erasing my C drive to reinstall Windows 98, but my computer won't even let me do that without freezing up. I was hoping someone could talk me through a DOS start. I can't get to my safe mode, but I can get to my BIOS page and that's about it. Do you need any more specific info on my computer? Also someone mentioned killdisk.com. Would that be an option, considering I'd have to download that program from someone else's computer (and the computer I'm borrowing right now is a MAC) coupled with the fact that my computer isn't even accepting its original emergency reinstall disk? Thanks so much for responding!

Download a win98 bootdisk from
www.bootdisk.com
Put it in the floppy drive and reboot.
Choose WITHOUT CD-rom support
(don't need it at the moment)
when you get to an a:\> prompt, type
dir /p
(hit enter)
It will scroll through a screen, look for
OPTIONS
if you don't see it, hit the SPACE bar
See OPTIONS?
If not, type
cd windows
(hit enter)
type
dir /p
do the same looking for
OPTIONS
report back

The MAC I am using does not have floppy capability. Will that be an issue?

Also, if i can get my hands on a start up floppy, which drive is that usually labeled as - so that I can reconfigure my boot to start with the floppy. My BIOS only gives letters, CD-ROM and SCSI as choices, and in particular orders.
