only a few USB ports work!

i recently baught a mobo from a person, a MSI K8 NEO 2 Platnium, and only 2 USB ports are working on it, it is soposed to have 4, but only 2 work......i have even tried an added USB thingie, lol, where you plug the wires in to the mobo for added USB ports, and thats not working either, i am tyring to get this to work cause the 2 i have pluged in right now i need in, i can't remove, my external HD and my mouse, and i got a few things i want to hook up too, my MP3 player, and my Sony PSP, any help would be greatly appreated
