Hi boyddevin and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

1. Go to Geeks to Go
. Click on My Controls at the top right hand corner of the window. (make sure you have signed in first)
. In the left hand column, click "View Topics"
. If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there

2. Also, while at the My Controls page, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
.Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification"

3. Finally, I need you to place HijackThis into its own folder, not a Temp folder.
HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

A. Please go to your 'My Documents' folder, right-click and select 'New > Folder' and name the folder 'HijackThis'.

B. Copy HijackThis into this newly createf folder.

C. Close ALL windows except HJT

D. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

E. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

Trevuren

Hi boyddevin,

A) Download and run Stinger

1. Please download Stinger and save it to your desktop

2. Double-click on the stinger.exe file and open the tool

3. Choose your entire hard drive to scan.

4. Choose Scan Now

5. Stinger will fix anything that it finds

6. Click the File menu and select Save report to file

7. Post the log file results here in this thread

B) Reboot your system

C) Download the most current version of Hijackthis (v.1.99.1) to a folder of its own. HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

1. Please go to your 'My Documents' folder, right-click and select 'New > Folder' and name the folder 'HijackThis'.

2. Download Hijackthis from:HERE

3. Double Click on 'HijackThis.zip' to extract and install HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

4. Close ALL windows except HJT

5. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

Hi boyddevin,

You have quite a severe infection on your system that we call [KaVSvS]. We have been having good success of late in eradicatind it.

1. I need you to move HijackThis to its own folder so that nothing gets deleted by mistake. The easiest way for you now would be as follows:

. Right Click on your Desktop
. Scroll down the menu to "New"
. Left click on "Folder"
. Name Folder "HJT"
. Drag current HijackThis icon from your desktop into the HJT Folder
. Run HJT from there.

2. I want you to UNINSTALL Weatherbug from your system through the ADD/REMOVE feature in your Control Panel.

3. Now using Windows Explorer, DELETE the following folder and all its content:

C:\Program\Files\AWS

After we have finished clearing up your system it is OK to reinstall this program making sure that you choose the no AD option.

4. Do you know this item: [HoldMeal] C:\PROGRA~1\IDLEBL~1\freeheart.exe

4. Finally, run HijackThis and with all windows closed except for HJT, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

Regards,

Trevuren

I created new folder but HJT would only move shortcut to folder, not actual program.

I eliminated AWS as instructed.

I am not familar with [HoldMeal] C:\PROGRA~1\IDLEBL~1\freeheart.exe

HJT

Hi boyddevin,

I need you to run the following programs and post the resulting logs when you are finished. In other words, I need 3 reports posted at once when all is finished.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1. Download FindQoologic-Narrator.zip save it to your Desktop.
http://forums.net-in...=post&id=134981

Extract (unzip) the files inside into their own folder called FindQoologic. preferably to your desktop
Open the FindQoologic folder.
Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat file to run it.
When a text opens, post it in a reply to your thread.

2. Download the RKFiles.zip from here:
http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip

Create a new folder called c:\Antispyware\RKFiles
Extract the contents of RKFiles.zip into this new RKFiles folder.

Then,

1. Reboot into Safe Mode

Restart and press the F8 key a few times after the BIOS loads -- the first thing you see when the pc "comes alive" and does its "self test" -- before windows loads).

2. Open the C:\Antispyware\RKFiles folder

* Locate and double-click the RKFILES.BAT to run this tool.
* Sit back and wait untill its finished.
* When it is finaly finished a text file will open.
* Save the contents of that text file.

Note: It should save by default to C:\Log.txt
* Find this log, right-click and rename it RKFiles_log.txt so you can post it later.

3. Reboot back to Normal Mode.

4. Post both logs as well as a new hijackthis log.

Regards,

Trevuren

Hi boyddevin,

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Download Killbox (version 2.0.0.76) here: http://www.downloads...org/KillBox.exe and put it on your desktop

Open Killbox

Check the following boxes:

Standard File Kill
End Explorer Shell While Killing file

Copy & paste the full path of each of the files below into the Killbox topmost box.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\paqab.dat
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vprpma.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winup2date.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wmconfig.cpl: UPX!
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\nkdk.exe
C:\WINDOWS\icont.exe
C:\WINDOWS\sskb5.exe

With the full path to the file name in the topmost textbox, Click the Red X ...and for the confirmation message that will appear, you will need to click Yes

Do this for each of the files listed. Some will not be deleted. Make sure you keep a list of them.

When you are through the list, use killbox to delete the files you were not able to delete as follows:

Open Killbox

Check the following boxes:

Delete on Reboot

With the full path to the file name in the topmost textbox. Click the Red X ...and for the confirmation message that will appear, you will need to click Yes

A second message will ask to Reboot now? you will need to click No (since you are not finished adding all related files in yet)

Click yes on the last file.

Note: Killbox will let you know if the file does not exist.

After the reboot scan with hijackthis and fix the following if they are still listed

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\nkdk.exe

Reboot and Post a new hijackthis log

Regards,

Trevuren

Hi boydevin,

Well this is sure one of the hardest I have had to deal with.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1. Download and install this disk cleanup utility called Cleanup!
Here: http://cleanup.stevengould.org/

or

Here: http://www.hijackthi.../CleanUp312.exe

Here is a tutorial which describes its usage: http://www.bleepingc...tutorial93.html

It will get rid of any malware which may be hiding in your temp folders ( a common hiding place). You will also regain a massive amount of disk space.

2. Run Cleanup!

Check the custom settings to your liking under options, but be sure to delete temporary files and temporary internet files for all user profiles. Also, cleanout the prefetch folder and the recycle bin.

3. Update and run Microsoft Antispyware: http://www.microsoft...re/default.mspx

4. We need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok

Then,,

5.Boot into Safe Mode

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

6. Close all windows except for HijackThis, click on SCAN . Place a check mark next to the following items. Then click the "Fix Checked" button.

7. Using Windows Explorer, Delete the following files and/or folders and all their content, if they are still present.

C:\windows\System32\vvuobw.exe<<File
C:\PROGRAM FILES\IDLEBL~1<<Folder (Search for a folder that starts with the letters IDLEBL
C:\windows\system32\vprpma.exe<<File

8. REBOOT your system

9. Finally, run HijackThis and with all windows closed excepr for HJT, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

Hi boyddevin,

I have apparently found 2 more baddies in your files.

Before completing the previous post, please go here and follow their instructions for removing unregmp2.exe
